São Paulo Metro Line 2 - Ponte Grande Station
São Paulo - Brazil
2025 | ONGOING
Within the extension of Line 2 – Green of the São Paulo Metro, Ghella is involved in the construction of Ponte Grande Station, under a contract dedicated exclusively to the station’s construction.
The station will be built underground through the excavation of a cavern, starting from a central circular shaft. The shaft is excavated using the traditional method, employing shotcrete (spritz-beton) and rock bolts to stabilize the walls.
Once the station’s bottom level is reached, the excavation continues laterally for approximately 50 meters to the right and 50 meters to the left, until the full development of the station is completed, for a total length of about 130 meters.
After the TBM excavation is completed, the final lining will be constructed, thereby completing the planned structural works.
The Ponte Grande Station project is part of the broader Line 2 – Green Extension, Lot 2, in which Ghella is involved. The project includes the design and construction of a main twin-track tunnel, with a diameter of 11.67 meters and a length of approximately 7 km, as well as two underground stations and ancillary works.
Once completed, Lot 2 will connect the Municipality of São Paulo with the Municipality of Guarulhos, through several interconnections with urban transport lines, both rail and road-based, extending public transport services to new city districts and to a significantly larger catchment area.
